He judged that dad spoke truth
Ordinarily, anyone interrupting a judge in the process of sentencing a criminal could expect a night in the cells for contempt. So there must have been something a bit special about Peter Moon’s intervention from the public gallery at Leicester crown court as Recorder Robert Spencer-Bernard prepared to send down Peter’s 21-year-old son Connor for fleeing police after crashing a van.
“Please, please you can’t send him to prison… I beg you, he is not mentally able,” pleaded dad. The judge relented and Connor, who has mental health problems and learning difficulties, was placed on curfew instead.
Here’s hoping he keeps his nose clean.
