Digital Today, Disc Monday This thoughtful British thriller takes the gloom of 1940’s Hollywood film noir and illuminates it with the neon dazzle of contemporary London.
The likeable Riz Ahmed brings a streetwise soft-spoken charisma as a whisky-drinking private detective, and is gifted some suitably snappy lines.
In time-honoured tradition a beautiful woman walks into his office with a missing persons case. Co-star Billie Piper is a good match for the material, though we see less of her than we’d like.
It’s a nicely reflective piece of work and the script digs into the frictions of the urban underground.
