Scandal he never got knighthood
CAROL Drinkwater says Robert Hardy did not receive the credit he deserved, and he should have been Sir Robert. Few actors’ careers can match Robert’s — from the huge TV hit of All Creatures to being Minister of Magic in Harry Potter and playing Winston Churchill nine times. He was awarded a CBE in 1981. Carol said: “He was a fine man and a great actor. One of my first thoughts when I found he’d passed away was, ‘Damn, he never got that knighthood!’”
She said: “What’s funny is that on Twitter a lot of people have referred to him as Sir Robert Hardy. If he’s up there looking down he’ll be chortling about that.”
