Light washing machine is a spinspiration

-

BRAINBOX Dylan Knight, 22, has created the world’s lightest washing machine by using a plastic water tank as a weight instead of 26kg of concrete.

He switched the solid block for a 3kg plastic tank, to be filled with water in the home. It will make the machines lighter to transport, slashing UK lorry emissions and saving delivery workers’ backs.

The design could soon be used in millions of new washing machines.

Prof Amin Al-Habaibeh of Nottingham Trent University helped Dylan develop a prototype.

Dylan said: “Everyone thinks the idea must have been thought of before. No one can really believe it.”
