How strange that on signing for Manchester United this week, former Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic said boss Jose Mourinho: “...is a great coach and always got the best from me.”. Really? Er, I seem to recall (It’s hard to forget tbh!) the infamous 2015-16 season when some players sabotaged Chelsea’s Premier League prospects by consistently putting in well below average performances. Matic was considered by fans to belong to that group. On Antonio Conte’s arrival he proclaimed: “Conte played football at a very high level… I can already see that he is a great manager.” He is.
