500 in quarter-mile queue for the opening of a Poundworld
A QUEUE stretched for a quarter of a mile as bargain hunters stood in line for the grand opening of a new Poundworld store.
Locals arrived as early as 7am, hours before the shop opened its doors at 10am.
More than 500 lined up, with the first 100 rewarded with a free goody bag – containing about £5 worth of items, including a note book, chocolates, cleaning products and colouring pencils.
Sian Thorburn wrote on social media: “I cannot believe there is such a queue for a pound shop! Crazy!”
Kimberley Alcock added: “This has made me laugh, I love the shop but wouldn’t queue – I’ll nip in on way home as only live across the road.” And Craig Taylor said: “The queue must have been a quarter of a mile long!!! Totally crazy!!” Kyle Davies wrote: “Omg I’ve been dreaming of a Poundworld.” The 4,800sq ft store has created 30 jobs in Rhyl, North East Wales, and was opened by the mayor Alan James. Sam Curties, Poundworld area manager, said: “We can’t wait to welcome local people through our doors and help them save money on their shopping bill over the coming weeks and months.”
