‘IS knifeman’ in Eiffel raid

-

A KNIFEMAN who tried to force his way into the Eiffel Tower said he wanted to attack soldiers.

He said he was encouraged by Islamic State and shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) as he approached troops, a judicial source in Paris said.

But the French national, a teenager born in 1998, surrendered when ordered on Saturday night. He was on temporary release from psychiatric hospital.

He is being treated as a terrorism suspect.
