MAN IN AN ORANGE SHIRT
BBC2, 9pm This gentle period romance suddenly leaps forward 60 years to find Adam having meaningless (loud) sex with random men found on dating apps.
“You’re looking a bit flushed,” says his granny Flora – previously Joanna Vanderham, and now in the present day played by Vanessa Redgrave. “Oh and there’s something on your jacket.” Seems like clever granny knows exactly what Adam has been up to.
She has her own demons to battle though, still struggling to deal with her past, while vet Adam (Julian Morris) battles with his sexuality.
But after locking eyes with the owner of a poorly cat, Adam tentatively embarks on a relationship with the man. And later on, the discovery of a lost painting by the gay lover of Adam’s grandad Michael might just bring emotions out into the open.
Ultimately, it’s a love story that may leave you sobbing into a hanky by the end.
