DJ: I’ll decide when to quit
DJ Johnnie Walker wants to be the one to decide when he leaves the BBC.
The 72-year-old fears being pushed out if he does not retire from his Radio 2 show. He said: “I’ve seen people leave the BBC at the end of their careers unwillingly, like Jimmy Young and Brian Matthew.
“I don’t want that. I always say to my wife Tiggy ‘when I start talking nonsense, tell me it’s time’.”
He told Radio Times: “I want to just catch it before they get rid of me.”
