C4, 9pm When landlord Marco Robinson fixes a sign outside a property that says “Free flat”, you’ll wonder if there’s a publicity stunt afoot.
The businessman, who has a property empire worth £25million, wants to give someone deserving a threebedroom flat in Preston, worth around £120,000.
But after five minutes, you’ll dismiss any cynicism. Marco, who says he has dreamt of doing this good deed for a long time, genuinely just wants to help someone.
He himself experienced homelessness as a child as he and his mother were evicted from numerous properties.
He says: “If someone was to do that for me and my mum when we needed it, that would have changed our lives immensely.”
In this emotional film, he sifts through 8,000 applications, meeting as many people as possible. But with so many in need, from Syrian refugees to a disabled woman, how on earth will he choose?
