THIBAUT COURTOIS has blasted critics who savaged him for missing a penalty in Chelsea’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.

The Blues keeper blazed his effort over the bar, after stepping up as the champions’ second spot-kick taker under the new ABBA system.

Arsenal went on to comfortably win the shootout 4-1. Scorn was then poured on Courtois for his effort. But the Belgium keeper insisted on social media he would not let the vitriol affect him.

He wrote: “They hate you when you’re winning, but love it when u break.”

Michy Batshuayi has strongly denied claims he laughed when team-mate Alvaro Morata missed his penalty at Wembley.

The Belgium striker was shown on camera laughing and smiling in footage shared on social media (above).

But it is understood the pictures actually show Batshuayi at the trophy presentation, rather than the moment at which £65million Morata sent his effort wide.

Batshuayi wrote on Twitter: “Wow lol – some people really believe I laughed at my team-mate and/or us losing? Sorry to disappoint but I wasn’t.

“I’m enjoying every goal for us scored by anyone in the team, that’s the only thing you have to know. Have a blessed day.”
