Nurses and troops ‘rely on pay loans’

- BY RUKI SAYID Consumer Editor

HARD-UP nurses and soldiers are among the lowest-paid workers, forced to use payday loans.

They are in the top five jobs in which Britons struggle to make ends meet, says a report from London lender CashLady.

Ironically, the users of loan companies include staff at the Department of Work and Pensions.

The study challenges the comment by Chancellor Philip Hammond that workers in the public sector are “overpaid”.

CashLady boss Chris Hackett, said: “Seeing some of our most valuable workers requiring shortterm loans will hopefully serve as a wake-up call.”

CashLady typically charges an annual percentage rate of 1,272%.
