Danger of no justice

-

FAILING to charge senior bankers responsible for the 2007 crisis shames Britain and sets a worrying precedent.

The misery inflicted on the hard-working people of this nation by that arrogant financial elite is not easy to measure.

But it is all too evident in statistics which show years of frozen wages, of cruel welfare cuts, waves of high street closures and small businesses that went bust.

We can see it, too, in the seven years of brutal Tory austerity which saw once-cherished public services cut to the bone and hundreds of thousands of jobs lost.

To see the disgraced figures who caused it all now living the high life as they count their vast pension pots will stick in the craw for millions of Brits whose wages have still not returned to their pre-crash levels.

It is high time these people were held to account. For this is more than a matter of natural justice. Those now in charge of our economy must know that if they fail to act responsibly the repercussions will be severe.
