FLOORED BY PELVIC ADVICE
I was interested to see Gwyneth Paltrow’s wacky website Goop in the news again last week.
It was recommending inserting a jade egg into the vagina for the purpose of strengthening one’s pelvic floor muscles. Each to her own, I guess.
But a US gynaecologist pointed out that this runs the risk of rare but serious infections and might not be the best approach to pelvic floor strengthening.
Complementary medicine should be regulated and evidencebased in its approach. Sadly, this does not appear currently to be the case for advice offered on Goop, something I would suggest Gwyneth swiftly rectifies.
