High street fashion firm New Look has warned tough trading will continue into next year.

Boss Anders Kristiansen said: “We expect the consumer environment to remain fragile, and for challenging market conditions to persist into 2018.”

The warning came as New Look revealed a 7.5% sales slump in the UK in the 13 weeks to June 24, with group profits crashing 60% to £12.1million.

Kristiansen insisted it was making changes but claimed they were “taking time” to bear fruit.
