‘Beef’ will be back full-time on Euro menu next year

ANDREW ‘BEEF’ JOHNSTON is set to quit the PGA Tour and return to play full-time in Europe next season.

The cult hero admits he has struggled on his first season on this side of the Atlantic and is playing the US PGA on a special invite. And after enjoying better results in Europe this summer, the bearded Londoner is ready to return home to help his bid to crack the world’s top 50.

The world No.108 said: “I haven’t played great. It has been hard. I haven’t swung the club that well. But I am getting back to hitting the ball well.

“Next year I am going to play more in Europe. It is so hard to play on both tours if you are not in the top 50. I will look to go back and play the two tours when I am in it. I will still want to play events all the time in Europe. “I love going back and playing Wentworth and the British Masters, Ireland, Scotland. If you can get the best of both and play great tournaments here and in Europe, it is the perfect schedule.” Johnston, who is down at No.185 in the FedEx rankings, is sharing a house here with Tyrrell Hatton (left). “We get on well, so it will be a fun week,” said Hatton, who finished tied-10th last year. “It worked for Jordan Spieth and all the Americans sharing a house in Birkdale. If you are happy off the course, you take those feelings on to it.” Danny Willett has turned to Tiger Woods’ former coach in a bid to end his slump in form. Last year’s Masters champion will now work with Sean Foley.
