Friday worst for smashes

DRIVERS have a 14% higher risk of being in a crash on Fridays, with an average 453 across Britain.

Sundays are safest with 300 smashes – 24% fewer than the average of 396.

And Direct Line Car Insurance said the riskiest hour is from 5pm to 6pm, taking in 9% of prangs.

Managing director Gus Park said: “Towards the end of the week we are tired. This can lead to not paying as much attention.”

Total crashes fell by 8% between 2011 and 2015.
