Killer driver fled as gran lay bleeding
A DRIVER who ran over a grandmother and left her lying in a pool of blood has been jailed for five years.
Ghufran Syaed Khan, 27, was filmed on CCTV as he fled the fatal crash scene.
He had ploughed into Surinder Kaur, 61, while driving at 40mph in a 30mph zone.
Police later found his red Vauxhall Astra at a garage. It had been resprayed black, then dismantled but was identified from the engine’s serial number.
Judge Philip Parker QC, sitting at Birmingham crown court, told him: “Until the trial, you embarked on an attempt to avoid responsibility. You haven’t shown the slightest degree of remorse.”
Khan, from Sparkhill, was convicted of death by dangerous driving.
