Jordan Cardy and his crew are being tipped as The Beastie Boys for the Brexit generation. But it’s wishful thinking with this debut being more like the sound of an underachieving Poundland nation, recycling 90s’ cast-offs. From the bolshy clatter of Revolution to dreary would-be ballad, I’ll Be Waiting, the thin material draws attention to other weaknesses. The dull, uninspired beats, the lack of flow in Cardy’s delivery, the flailing social commentary of Boiling Point. Scum? Not exactly but far from the cream, either.
