I was wrong to accuse AJ of a fling with wife
Khan drops cheat claim
BOXER Amir Khan has admitted he wrongly accused his wife of cheating with world champ Anthony Joshua.
Faryal Makhdoom said yesterday her husband was sent hoax messages that prompted him to lash out last week.
Khan has now sent a tweet to Joshua saying: “Glad all is cleared up and all lies. I got angry like any man would. No truth to it. Good to know. All the best.”
Joshua, 27, replied: “Apology accepted.” Last week he appeared to laugh off accusations of an affair. But in private he was said to be furious about being dragged into the public split.
The heavyweight is said to have demanded a retraction from fellow British boxer Khan, 30.
Faryal tweeted: “I’ve been quiet for some time... because I myself didn’t know what’s going on. Everything that’s going on is… a complete misunderstanding.
“The screenshots sent to Amir were ‘fake’ and Amir thought Joshua and I were speaking… when we have never even met.
“Anger took the better of him and he tweeted away without thinking.” She added: “There was absolutely NO truth to it.”
Faryal, 26, and former lightwelterweight world champ Khan had a blazing row on Twitter last Friday. He announced they were separating and suggested she had moved on with Joshua.
Faryal and Khan had been in Dubai last week to celebrate her birthday. She is believed to have flown to New York after the split.
He stayed in Dubai and was pictured in a club with beauty adviser Gulbahor Becknazar.
Gulbahor, who has known the boxer as a friend for two years, angrily denied speculation she had anything to do with the break-up.
Another woman, British make-up artist Bia Hannides, 22, told how she was partying at the club with Khan when a jealous air hostess glassed her in the face.
Khan, who is back in Britain, yesterday appeared to regret his night on the town.
He tweeted: “I partied in Dubai with friends to get my wife angry. Shouldn’t have. That’s not like me and I’ll prove that.”
He and Faryal, who have been married for four years, have a three-year-old daughter.
