“But, in the end, the number of matches will be the same for everybody.

“Arsenal and Everton are in the Europa League, so they have to play on Thursdays.

“But the top seven – we’re going to be in the four competitio­ns – so there’s no advantage for any one of us.

“I’d say there are seven teams to fight for the title.

“It’s the objective of every one of the top teams and every one of the managers of those top teams.”

Mourinho also revealed United are in talks with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovi­c (above) about rejoining them for the second half of the season.

Last season’s top scorer Ibrahimovi­c was released by United after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, but is likely to be ready to play again by December.

Mourinho added: “He wants more football at the highest level.

“So we’re having conversati­ons and discussing the possibilit­y of him staying for the second part of the season.” in the Champions League this term.

With United, Tottenham and Manchester City also in the Champions League, and Arsenal and Everton in the Europa League, Mourinho said none of the seven title contenders have an advantage over the others.

“Everybody – the top seven – are all in Europe,” said Mourinho, whose United side host West Ham at Old Trafford tomorrow.
