HOWE-ITZER FIRED AT ’CRAZY’ DEALS

-

EDDIE HOWE has aimed a rocket at the Premier League’s ‘crazy’ summer spending – and he admits splashing the cash at Bournemouth made him feel uneasy.

During Howe’s first spell as manager in 2009 the Cherries were in serious danger of going bust.

But they recently shelled out £30million on Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake from Chelsea and snapped up free agent Jermain Defoe on big wages.

Howe (above) said: “When you compare the transfer window to other industries around the world, it is crazy. The fees, the figures, the money, it’s absolutely crazy what has happened to the market since I started in management. “Because of my history, it’s not normal for us at this club to spend the figures we have – which is always slightly uncomfortable.

“And because of our history we have never lost sight of that. But if you don’t compete in this league then I’m afraid it’s going to be very difficult for you.”
