Taking only whine through customs

I wrote last Saturday that the long passport delays at European airports due to raised security measures would eventually suit most Brits as our top pastimes are queueing and moaning.

That day, many countries speeded up the process to help tourists. The reaction? Still vintage whining.

As summed up by Chris Barwick, 44, of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, who was quoted as saying a Palma customs official “didn’t even look at my photo. You expect them to be less lax. I’d rather queue for longer and be safe.”

I rest my suitcase, m’lud.
