Pilot slashed by prop still wants to fly

- BY JOSH PAYNE

A PILOT whose face was slashed by a 136mph propellor got back in the cockpit – only to crash four weeks later and write off his microlight aircraft.

Now Dominic Whelan has launched a crowdfunding page to buy a new aircraft, saying: “Help me realise my dream of flying.”

The 42-year-old of Willenhall, West Mids, needed 28 stitches after he “lost focus” when removing a chock from under the wheels in March, a day after passing his test.

Of walking into the propeller he said: “A couple of millimetres either side and it would have had my eye out.”

But even the crash, in which he “hurt his arms and legs” hasn’t put him off, as he bids to replace plane Floaty McFloatface.
