Bright sparks in fridge fire

DOZY tenants accidentally set fire to their kitchen by trying to defrost their fridge with lighted candles.

They put over 20 mini tea lights inside the fridge which burst into flames, setting the kitchen on fire.

Firefighters were called to the scene and took nearly an hour to douse the blaze in Redhill, Surrey.

A fire service spokesman said: “The tenants had lit around 23 tea light candles and placed them in the fridge to try and speed up the defrosting process.”
