Bees threat by pesticide

BUMBLEBEES could be wiped out by a nicotinerelated pesticide.

Queens exposed to thiamethoxan were 26% less likely to lay eggs, said Prof Nigel Raine of the University of Guelph in Ontario.

A temporary EU ban on its use on flowering crops is currently under review.
