ENGLAND STEP INTO PINK VOID

- BY DEAN WILSON

ENGLAND are stepping into the unknown world of day/night Test cricket. And opening bowler Stuart Broad confesses to NEVER having delivered a ’pinkie’ in a competitive match before. Broad said: “I have bowled one delivery with the pink ball – I got it relatively straight!

“I just don’t know what to the expect.

“I’m stepping into the unknown completely.

“I need to think about fuel, and if it is colder in the evening there might be leggings on.

“You can’t afford an injury like Usain Bolt doing his hamstring.” Keeper Jonny Bairstow (left) knows he will have his work cut out picking up the pink ball as it is hurled in to him.

“It will be fascinating to see how the ball behaves,” said Bairstow. “You have to pick up the ball from multi-coloured backgrounds wherever you are on field.”
