In 1999, Vogue magazine heralded a new queen – Victoria’s Secret model Gisele Bundchen – calling her the “return of the sexy model”. The fashion world declared waifs so over, as they cooed over 5ft 11in Gisele’s impossibly long legs and throwback supermodel glamour. But there was another body trend that had been dying to bust out for years. The boob brigade. And Gisele inspired the kind of pneumatic look that would have sent Barbie running to her plastic surgeon for implants. Boob jobs soared in the UK as Victoria Beckham went from a 34A to a 34DD in 2006, with what she now calls her “torpedo bazookas”, before removing them again in 2009.
