MAT FINISH IS SPOT ON FOR THE RAMS

Derby 1 Preston 0

-

MATEJ VYDRA’S second-half penalty fired Derby to their first win of the season.

The Czech striker (left) eased the Rams’ growing frustration when he broke Preston’s stubborn resistance from the spot on 58 minutes.

North End had gone 238 minutes without conceding in the league and repeatedly thwarted Derby. Preston old-boy David Nugent was denied twice, by keeper Chris Maxwell and a block from Darnell Fisher.

But Derby sealed the win from Vydra’s penalty after North End captain Greg Cunningham wrestled with Curtis Davies at a corner.
