SPARKY IN FOR BJORN DEFENDER

- BY BRENDAN MCLOUGHLIN

STOKE are eyeing former Arsenal target Bjorn Engels at Club Brugge as Mark Hughes looks to rebuild his defence. The Potters have already landed Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan from Chelsea as well as making Bruno Martins Indi’s switch from Porto permanent. But they want another centre-back with Hughes eager to play three at the back. The Belgian club have asked £8.5million for Engels (left), but recent shoulder and knee injuries to the 22-year-old could mean they settle for less. Brugge’s exit from Champions League qualifying may also boost Stoke’s chances of landing the towering 6ft 4in defender.
