Gabriel is Gunner be on his way
ARSENAL misfit Gabriel is poised to join Valencia in a £10million move.
The Brazilian defender has struggled to settle in England and adapt to the Premier League after two-and-a-half years at the club.
Gabriel joined for £15m from Villarreal in January 2015, with Arsene Wenger admitting at the time there is “always a risk” and his stats on “interceptions, defensive errors, winning tackles” were key to him being signed.
Now Arsenal have a depth of defensive options, they are willing to sell, with Valencia confident of doing a deal.
But Wenger hinted that Jack Wilshere, who has just a year left on his Arsenal contract, could yet stay at the club, despite interest from Newcastle, Swansea and Aston Villa.
Wenger added: “He needs games. He might play again for the Under-23s on Monday night, but what is important for him is to be completely fit. He is not far away now.
“At the moment, I plan for him to be here for the whole season – then we will see.”
