CARRICK: I’M SKIPPER BUT SAME BLOKE

-

MICHAEL CARRICK claims that becoming Manchester United captain has not changed him. Carrick, 36, was handed the skipper’s armband by Jose Mourinho, after Wayne Rooney’s departure, and the veteran midfielder is now in his 12th season at Old Trafford. The former England star (left) said: “You’ve got to lead in certain ways, but I’m just trying to be myself. You can’t suddenly change because you’re put in a different role. You’ve just got to be yourself and respect all the lads, like I do. It’s a big honour, it’s very special and it probably comes with me being the oldest in the squad.” He sat out Sunday’s win over West Ham, but added: “There will be a lot of games – and a lot of squad rotation.”
