ROXY Shahidi and Anthony Quinlan say their Emmerdale characters face a rocky road ahead after their wedding was dramatically called off.
In a hilarious scene, the bride and groom tried to do a runner and pull out of walking down the aisle .
But they ended up stuck in adjoining toilet windows.
But filming the sequence was no laughing matter.
Roxy, who plays Leyla, said: “We were hanging out of those windows for about seven hours, it was a very long day. But it allowed us to play the scene with a lot of intensity.”
Anthony, who portrays Pete Barton, added: “I had a props guy holding on to my legs from behind the window. “We were sticking out of the windows and it was in my groin. I was in pain.” The episode ended with Leyla at home with her family wishing she was still with Pete. But Pete was in his honeymoon suite having sex with Leyla’s best pal Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade), who he has been having an affair with. Show boss Iain MacLeod said: “A lot of people talk about Pete’s cheating on Leyla, but I think the real betrayal is between the two best friends, Priya and Leyla, and a lot of the story moving forward is on that.”
