Loan stars a Bridge too far

-

JOE HART could hardly be blamed for any of Manchester United’s four goals last Sunday and it was probably only a coincidence that three of the four beat him on his left-hand side.

That is the same side on which Gareth Bale and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson enjoyed speculative success at Euro 2016.

This week, Hart has revealed a new ‘band’ tattoo on his right arm.

“Great to go back to Shrewsbury and get some worldclass body art,” he declared on his Instagram account.

Next bit of worldclass body art? Some go-faster stripes on that left arm, maybe. LET’S give everyone the benefit of the doubt and say Charly Musonda (above, left) was known to most, but Fikayo Tomori and Kyle Scott certainly were not. To go full Danny Rose, they were the Google Two (above, centre and right) on Chelsea’s bench last Saturday. Yet, while the Google Two made up the numbers at Stamford Bridge, five Chelsea players were starting for five other Premier League teams on the same day. In fact, 19 Chelsea players featured in five Premier League matches. Only one had a winning experience. Odd club, Chelsea.

DANNY ROSE becausehe’s-worth-it update... Now absent for 16 Premier League games. Spurs’ record in those 16 games – won 14, drawn none, lost two, 43 goals scored, nine goals conceded. Pay that man his due, Tottenham simply cannot cope without

SLICE one of what could be a very large humble pie… Wayne Rooney was smashing for Everton last Saturday.

Maybe Ross Barkley should think about hanging around for a while to learn from Rooney.

AS culture shocks go, the one hitting Jese Rodriguez is sizeable – Madrid, Paris, Las Palmas, Stoke. But for Mark Hughes, Rodriguez needs to adapt quickly. For three of his four seasons, Hughes had Stoke punching above their weight, but last year was poor. Signing Saido Berahino was baffling and looks even more so now the striker has failed to score in 14 appearances. Hughes desperately needs a transfer to pay off, so let’s hope Jese enjoys life in the Potteries. AROUND this time every year, there is a queue to call for the transfer window to close before the Premier League season starts. Leaving aside Europe’s varying league starts, what difference would it make? The window is a billionpound-plus game of musical chairs. And whenever the tune stops, be it August 1 or September 1, there will always be someone left standing.
