Hero woman officer shoots four terrorists

HORROR Police check the terrorist car in Cambrils A FEMALE police officer has been hailed a hero for preventing a second Spanish massacre by shooting four terrorists dead single-handedly.

The officer picked off the jihadis — armed with knives, an axe and imitation suicide belts — after they mowed down five people in the resort town, including a woman who later died in hospital.

The crazed gang then attempted to run down both the officer and her colleague, who was injured, before jumping out and stabbing a passer-by in the face. They charged towards the officer but were killed.

A fifth terrorist ran into a park in Cambrils but was shot minutes later by another policeman.

A retired Spanish officer, who yesterday visited the scene of Thursday’s terror attack, said: “She is a hero and deserves every congratulations.

“She will be formally honoured for her bravery with a medal, but because of the circumstances it will done secretly to protect her identity.

“She should feel very proud. She saved dozens of lives. It could have been another massacre.”

The drama unfolded in the popular beach town of Cambrils — 75 miles south west of Barcelona — just eight hours after the Las Ramblas atrocity.

Police have linked the incidents and there are unconfirmed reports 17-year-old Moussa Oukabir, the van driver in the Barcelona massacre, was also one of the five killed in the second attack.

Survivor Joan Marc said: “I suddenly heard shots and people screaming. I didn’t know where to hide. I had to jump to the beach and I had to hide there. I thought, ‘God, we are going to die’.”
