BRUCE: ‘VILE’ TROLLS WILL EAT THEIR WORDS

- BY BRENDAN McLOUGHLIN

ASTON VILLA boss Steve Bruce came out fighting against the “vile” Twitter trolls already calling for his head just three games into the new campaign.

Villa are still searching for a first league win – but Bruce (left) reckons it is “ridiculous” the pressure is already being piled on him so early in the campaign.

One point from a possible nine has led to a barrage of abuse on social media from some sections of Villa’s support. Bruce, preparing for today’s visit of Norwich, said: “The frustration for me is social media now is vile. Thankfully I don’t read it. But I hear snippets.

“It borders on ridiculous but I suppose that is the society we live in. Everyone has their say, don’t they?

“I really don’t know why other managers would be on it but, hey, the President of the United States is on it. We’re all fair game. I imagine he gets some stick over a few.”

He continued: “There’s nothing you can do apart from win on Saturday to shut the nonsense up. There’s been a lot of nonsense but you remember them.

“You think, ‘Well I’ll remember what they said a few weeks ago and hopefully shove it down their throats’.”

Bruce insisted he is “not worried one jot at this stage” by the team’s poor start.
