Tragic mum snubs calls of President
THE mum of tragic Heather Heyer has refused to speak to President Trump over his likening of her antifascist daughter to neo-Nazis.
Heather, 31, was mown down during the Charlottesville clashes over the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee.
Grieving Susan Bro said: “I’m not talking to the President now. I’m sorry. After what he said about my child. I saw a clip of him equating protesters like Ms Heyer with the KKK and white supremacists.”
She told ABC’s Good Morning America that the White House tried to call her repeatedly during her daughter’s funeral on Wednesday.
Heather died last Saturday, when a car hit anti-fascists protesting the Unite the Right rally. James Alex Fields, 20, is charged with murder.
In a news conference on Tuesday, Mr Trump blamed “both sides”.
Meanwhile, James Murdoch, whose media tycoon dad Rupert is a friend of the President, blasted Mr Trump. The 21st Century Fox chief, 44, told friends: “What we watched in Charlottesville and the reaction by the president concerns all of us as Americans and free people.”
