TARKO CAN NOW BE A BIT SPECIAL

- BY MIKE WHALLEY

JAMES TARKOWSKI is determined to prove he has the bite to make it at Burnley – with help from Michael Keane.

Tarkowski has the chance to be a regular in the centre of the Clarets’ defence following Keane’s £25million move to Everton last month.

And the England centre-back was quick to congratulate his old pals after Burnley’s shock 3-2 win at Chelsea last week, even though he was feeling pretty sore himself.

Keane lost part of a tooth in an aerial collision as Everton beat Stoke – a sign of the bravery that helped him break into Gareth Southgate’s international set-up for the first time in March.

Tarkowski, 24, hopes to convince boss Sean Dyche he can partner Ben Mee at the back – and goes into today’s game against West Brom with words of support from Keane.

“He texted me last week,” said Tarkowski. “He lost half his tooth in his game so he sent me a picture and a message congratulating the lads. Everyone got on with Keano here. But losing a tooth will affect his looks a little bit.”
