Scriptly smitten

Actor Michael Brandon – best known for Dempsey and Makepeace, which drew up to 18 million viewers in the mid-1980s – admits co-star Glynis Barber wasn’t always attracted to him.

“I was already in Dempsey mode when she arrived and I acted up. She hated me,” he says in his one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe. “The scripts were lousy in the first series but they started to get better, then Glynis started talking to me, then we went for a walk in LA...”

And they have now been married for more than 27 years. Bless!
