MORE4, 9pm Dee Hart Dyke is probably most often called Miranda Hart’s mother these days. This is what happens when your daughter is a famous comedy actress.
But Dee is also one of Britain’s best amateur gardeners. She loves pottering in the garden and has never left it for more than four days in a row.
“When I get back from holidays I can’t wait to get into the garden. It’s like seeing your children again,” she says.
Miranda on the other hand declares she has a mutant gardening gene and wouldn’t know a plant from a weed.
In this series, Dee meets people opening their gardens to visitors through the National Garden Scheme, all the while trying to convert Miranda to the joys of being green-fingered.
And it makes for entertaining viewing once you realise that Miranda and her mum share the same naughty, yet posh, sense of humour.
There is sniggering over the mention of rampant climbers (such fun!), and as Dee works on an unfortunately phallic piece of pottery she declares: “Whoops that is rude!”
