Cup stays in the US

-

THE USA beat Europe to win Golf’s Solheim Cup for a fifth time in seven years.

The hosts started the 12 singles matches on the final day with a five-point lead, needing only four more to secure victory at Des Moines Country Club.

Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer won their matches before Angel Yin halved the fifth match against France’s Karine Icher to ensure the US of at least a draw.

The US retained the cup when Lizette Salas clinched victory with a one up win over England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff.

“To secure the crucial point is unbelievable. My hands shaked,” Salas said.
