GIVEN his love of the adulatory hug, it is something of a surprise just how reluctant Jurgen Klopp is to single out any one of his players for praise.

FRANK DE BOER says he has been priced out of a move for Mamadou Sakho.

The Crystal Palace boss admitted he would love to sign the 27-year-old Liverpool defender (left) on a permanent deal, but feels £30million is far too steep.

De Boer agreed the France international, who spent several months on loan at Selhurst Park last season, made a massive contribution to Palace’s battle to remain in the Premier League.

And the Eagles manager said: “Everybody knows he had a major impact last season and, when he’s available for us, I think that is a quality injection for the club. But we don’t feel it’s likely to happen because he is much too expensive for the club.”

Palace defended well at Anfield, with a three-man defence stifling Liverpool’s attack effectively, until a rare error handed Sadio Mane a late goal.

And, after the horror show against Huddersfield last week, the former Ajax manager insisted his side can take much from the performance, even if his side went down to another defeat.

“Of course, everybody wants to win, but I’m looking at the process of how we are developing as individual players and as a team.

“If I see progress, then I am satisfied, of course,” he added.
