Bishops want benefits rise

CHURCH leaders want the benefits freeze ended after researchers found hard-up working families can’t provide for their children.

The Bishop of Durham, the Rt Rev Paul Butler, said The Child Poverty Action Group’s findings were “deeply disturbing.”

The Government insists it is making work pay.
