Red Planet’s ‘whiteouts’
MARS is hit by Earth-like snow blizzards at night.
A climate model shows parts of the Red Planet turn white after dark.
It is caused by huge differences in temperature between day and night.
Scientists discovered “microbursts” occur due to the cooling of water-ice particles in clouds.
Dr Spiga, of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, said the clouds allow the “seasonal variations of ice deposits”.
