MY EXTREME OCD LIFE
C5, 10pm Meg spends two hours touching items like radiators and light switches before she can leave the house every morning. The 20-year-old is consumed by ritual, convinced that bad things will happen if she doesn’t.
She self-harms and has dark thoughts, describing her obsessive compulsive disorder as “the monster on my back”.
Meg even thought she had caused a recent terror attack in London because she had sat in an odd-numbered train seat.
This incredibly sad series follows several young people as they attempt to live a normal life in the face of OCD. And it’s heartbreaking to watch their daily struggles as they give candid interviews.
Serin, 23, was at one point washing her hands 200 times a day, while Annie, 18, says she spent most of her school days hiding in the toilets.
And there’s pain too for the parents, who feel helpless and at a loss as to what to do.
