WE’RE NOT ALL RACIST
As the author of three books on the British supplying arms to the Confederacy during the US Civil War, I’m a proud honorary member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
I am not a racist – and to tar all the people of the south as racist is wrong.
The tragic consequences of the Charlottesville rally were the work of right-wing extremists determined to cause trouble.
All most southerners wish to do – as well as the Confederate Veterans organisations – is honour relatives who died in the Civil War.
They want nothing to do with any racist groups now tarnishing the good work they do. David Burt Congleton, Cheshire
