I see eclipse of the Toon ahead

-

THE situation between Mike Ashley and Rafa Benitez at Newcastle is a little bit ‘watch this space’ and I can see it being sorted one way or the other in late November or early December.

Either results will pick up between now and then and the Toon are comfortably — or comfortably-ish — out of the bottom three then I can see Benitez (left) being given a few quid to bring in a couple of new players.

But if Newcastle are in the bottom three and with a bit of a gap opening between them and Premier League safety, then I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ashley looking for a replacement manager.

Because no matter how much he loves him, if the Spaniard keeps digging him out then Ashley will eventually say, “You’re more trouble than you’re worth.”

Experience tells me that owners rarely sack themselves.
