HAMMERS ON ALERT IF BILIC FLOPS

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

WEST HAM are already weighing up replacements for Slaven Bilic just two games into the season.

The former Croatia coach is under

threat after two successive defeats, with co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan wary of being dragged into another relegation battle after last season’s struggles.

If results don’t pick up – West Ham travel to League Two Cheltenham in the Carabao Cup tomorrow before heading to Newcastle on Saturday and then hosting Huddersfield immediately after the international break – they are ready to act.

Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez is one manager who remains highly regarded at West Ham despite turning them down in 2015 to join Real Madrid.

Bilic has been heavily backed in the transfer window this summer with Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez (left) all arriving. But Hammers have still to gain their first point.
