Star alerts police after ‘keep out of Islam’ warning
LOOSE Women’s Saira Khan has called in police over a death threat on an Instagram post in which she challenged a Muslim cleric.
Saira, 47, was commenting on a story about a preacher saying plucking eyebrows is a sin for Muslim women.
Posting a snap of herself face down in a bikini she wrote: “Here’s my response – kiss my…” with an emoji of a peach to represent her backside. She finished off: “You backward prehistoric dinosaur.” Mum-of-two Saira was horrified to find one message below her post that read: “If you value your life keep the f*** out of Islam.”
While other Instagram users praised her forthright attitude, her critic told her: “Keep your mouth shut, your not a Muslim nor do you represent anything to do with Islam. “Your white masters have given you what you desire.” Saira, on holiday in Croatia, shared a screenshot of the comment on Twitter – and tagged the Metropolitan Police. She wrote: “Just received a death threat from a @silverbengle on Instagram – check it out @metpoliceuk.” Saira, a Muslim whose family came from Pakistan, has often challenged Islamic conventions that trouble her.
Another comment on her Instagram post said: “Thank you for educating the world you can be both Muslim and free.”
In May Saira was told by a “Muslim brother” she was a disgrace for an underwear photoshoot with her TV colleagues.
She wrote then: “If Allah doesn’t like it, let him deal with me.”
