The German-owned discounter grew its market share to a record 5.2% in the three months to mid-August, said number crunchers at Kantar Worldpanel, with Waitrose achieving 5.1%. Aldi, which has a 7% market share, and Lidl have targeted Waitrose’s shoppers by launching upmarket ranges at budget prices.
